Veteran actor turned producer, Obi Madubogwu, who has been hospitalized and is recuperating from a near-fatal bout with diabetic sore, celebrated his birthday recently. .

Some Nollywood stars like Don Pedro Aganbi (Lagos AGN Chairman), Prince Ifeanyi Dike, Jude Orhorha, Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi, Dozie Eboh, Stanley Okoronkwo, Andy Chukwu and more went to visit him at the Federal Medical Centre in Ebute Metta, Lagos. .

During the visit, Obi Madubogwu talked about his disappointment with a number of Nigerian stars that have forgotten him and are not picking his calls even though he had a hand in shaping their movie careers. .

He said “I am truly thankful for the people who have been of help to me. But I am surprised at the behaviour of some of the stars whom I helped shape their film careers. .

.

Some have received cumulative acting fees from me running into tens of millions of Naira. I remember one who works with Governor Okorocha. I was the one who gave her the first movie role. .

I called her on the phone once and after that she refused to pick my call subsequently. Many Nollywood stars disappointed me at the point of need, avoiding my phone calls; but God has been great, giving me support from unfamiliar places”.

I fell in love with his broad shoulders. Then he was really looking very cute. I can still remember what he was wearing that day. I won’t forget – a red shirt, long sleeves, and jean trousers. He was really looking great and then we were very young and restless. 

That was like 37 years ago. He couldn’t even take me out because he didn’t have money as a youth corper. It was quite magnetic and that was it. And besides I have always said that whoever that was going to marry me must be able to sweep me off my feet completely and that was exactly what happened.

There is a three-year age difference between us. I am older than him anyway. I was like 25 then while he was 22. It was love that really endured. I had graduated and in my place when a girl graduates from the university, suitors come from left, right and centre.

And your parents would expect you to go for a self-made man with everything. But I have always known that there was no way I could have married a self-made man. I will rather build a home from the scratch with you because I want to have a say in my home.”

“Things are hard. My husband has no job. He had an accident three months ago he is still in the hospital ago and the situation became worse for us. We don’t see food to eat. We were dying of starvation.

I delivered at home and threw the baby in the toilet because I don’t know how we are going to take care of it. I didn’t tell my husband,” she narrated amidst sobs.

The newborn whose cry attracted neighbours, was rescued alive nearly 12 hours later before being rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

COURT DISSOLVES EMEKA IKE’S MARRIAGE OVER WIFE’S BATTERY

A Lagos Island Customary Court on Thursday dissolved the marriage between Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike and his wife, Emma over an alleged incessant battery.

Emma, a teacher, had on July 13, 2015, approached the court to dissolve the 14-year-old marriage between her and the Nollywood star. The court president, Mr Awos Awosola, said from the totality of the evidence before the court, it was obvious that the marriage was beyond redemption.

“Emeka, who has been begging to be reconciled with his wife, has not made any effort towards the reconciliation. The marriage is hereby dissolved with effect from March 2, in accordance with the Lagos State Customary Court Law, 2011; Order 3 Rule 7 as amended.

Any party that is not satisfied with the judgment has the right to appeal to any court of higher jurisdiction within 30 days from today,’’ the court president ruled. Awosola awarded the custody of their four children to the husband and ordered that the wife must have unhindered access to them.

He said that N300 paid as Emma’s bride price had been returned to Emeka and urged both parties to maintain peace. The mother of four had earlier told the court that her husband had been physically and verbally abusing her all through the duration of their marriage.

“My husband treated me like nobody and throughout this divorce tussle; he had denied me access to my children. He does not allow them to pick my call as he keeps changing their numbers.

The last time I heard my first son’s voice was when he was sick and about to undergo surgery. It was a friend who informed me that my son was in the hospital and I called Emeka asking him for the location of the hospital but he refused to disclose that,” the woman said.
