This Is The Type Of Woman That Appeals To Adekunle Gold

This Is The Type Of Woman That Appeals To Adekunle Gold

Singer Adekunle Gold, needs little or no introduction in the entertainment industry as he recently marked one year anniversary of his debut album “Gold“.

The SHADE crooner, opened up on his deal with YBNL, his ideal girl and of course his music, during an interview with Sunday Scoop.
On his music:
“It is my personal resolve to keep making clean music. I am not under any pressure whatsoever to change the type of lyrics I sing. I like to pass across messages with my songs. Music is supposed to be a vehicle for social change. If you notice, my songs often dwell on topical issues that people can relate with and learn from. A true hit song is one that people can still enjoy many years after it was recorded. But some songs that were released just last year are no longer relevant or appealing, and that is because they are shallow and not in tune with the times,”
On his love for African print:
“I am a proud African and it’s up to me to showcase my culture and let people know more good things about the continent. Whenever I travel, foreigners admire my outfit and some of them even request for the type. It is the way we treat our things that outsiders would also perceive it. I want to implore everyone to give priority to our local products.”
On how he met YBNL boss, Olamide:
“I met Olamide when I was called upon to design the YBNL logo. I also did some other works for members of the label. After I sang Sade, Olamide heard it and liked it, so we had a discussion and he offered me a deal. I gladly accepted.”
On his type of woman he likes, Adekunle said,
“My ideal girl is someone who is a go-getter. She must know what she wants and be prepared to work for it. I don’t like people who are too laid-back and don’t even have plans for their lives.”

Wande Coal Shines Like A ‘Black Diamond’ On The Cover Of Guardian Life Magazine

Wande Coal Shines Like A ‘Black Diamond’ On The Cover Of Guardian Life Magazine

If you’ve ever listened to Wande Coal then you’ll know that his sound isn’t ordinary. His style of music, which embodies a cross between RnB and Afro beats, never gets old!
On a chilled Sunday afternoon in Abuja, Guardian Life had an interesting chat with Wande Coal who talks about his transition from Mo’Hits, to Mavin Records and finally Black Diamond Entertainment. He also talks about some interesting facts you probably don’t know about him.
Read excerpts below
How did you get the name Wande Coal?
Wande is my real name and Coal is because of my dark colour.
What was the first song you wrote?
At the time I just would beat my chest and sing, Ololufe was the song that put me out there.
Which artist inspired your music career?
It was my 300 level, I remember Tuface came to the school, and everybody went wild. People were on him, and he came to one of the hostels and he sang. In my mind, I was like wow, I want this too. I have always been a big fan of Tuface.
Who were you a backup singer for?
I started off as a learner, I used to be a backup singer to D’banj and we would go on trips together until I became an artist.
How did D’banj treat you as a boss?
He was a militant! But in a good way, he was always positively driven and I learnt a lot from him.
Word on the street is that Nigerian artists are mimicking Ghanaian sound. What do you think about that?
I look at Ghana and Nigeria like Canadians and Americans. They are family, so both of us have something, but a fusion of it is what creates the sound. We speak Pigeon, they also speak Pigeon so they can flow with us, and I would say both of us rub off on each other.
Who are your main industry guys?
My guys are many, I’m that guy that hangs out with everyone. Just to mention a few, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Flavour.
What is your favourite album of all time?
The Konvicted Akon album and Face 2 Face Tuface album were my main inspirations.
What’s your dream location and with who?
If I could be anywhere I would be in America, particularly Atlanta because it has a music vibe. I would be in the studio with Jazzy Fizzle or Wiz Khalifa.
What do you do in your spare time?
I play basketball; I’m usually the point guard when I go with my guys. I also swim sometimes.
Choose between Ghanian or Nigerian jollof?
I love both of them so there’s a problem, I can never choose which one I like better!
Favourite series at the moment
I am in love with Power, I’m actually watching it right now and Ghost is my favourite character.

Here’s What CNN Has To Say About Buhari’s Prolonged Absence

Here’s What CNN Has To Say About Buhari’s Prolonged Absence

Cable News Network (CNN) over the weekend mocked Nigeria over President Muhammadu Buhari’s prolonged absence from the country.
A snapshot from the weekend broadcast of a CNN foreign affairs show, “The Global Public Square (GPS)”, anchored by Fareed Zakaria may, however, hint at a turn of events.
A question on the Quiz and Trivia segment of the show read, “The head of state from which country has not set foot in his homeland in over two months?
The options were given as Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Nigeria and Syria.
Nigeria’s President Buhari has been out of the country for nearly 3 months seeking medical treatment in the United Kingdom and was not seen in public for many weeks until recently when he hosted some state governors and party chieftains.
Many Nigerians see the humour in the CNN question for what it is but many others see it as an insult but one for which they can only blame President Buhari who some say should have resigned in the best interest of the country.

This Is The Reason Saint Obi Thinks Celebrities With Crashed Marriages Should Not Be Judged

Actor Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, has asked Nigerians not to judge celebrities with crashed marriages. According to him, until one is married, they won’t understand the dynamics that operates in homes.

Speaking in an interview with NewTelegraph, Saint Obi said:
There have been rising cases of crashed marriages among celebrities. What is your take on this?
Firstly, I must say that violence is not good. But sometimes, when it comes to issues about crashed marriages and stuffs like that, what I always say is that ‘don’t be too quick to judge’, because until you get married, I know you are, you won’t understand the dynamics that operates in homes.
What works for Mr ‘A’ or Miss ‘A’ may not work for Mr ‘B’ and Miss ‘B’. So, things lead to things; but my advice is that rather than become violent, maybe you walk away or maybe give each other some space.
Sometimes some artistes push the other to the extreme, I say sometimes, not always. So, it is just the ability for one to understand when he is being pushed overboard, and control that urge to go overboard because some people can be terrible, and some people can be nice.
So, I will never advise anybody to be violent no matter the situation; but some people push people to the extreme.

Omoni Oboli’s Inspiring Piece On Depression Is A Must Read

Nollywood actress, Omoni Oboli who recently lost her father and grandmother took to Instagram to write and inspiring piece on depression.

Read below:
“Most people have chronic depression for various reasons. Depression is a very complex issue but it’s very real and society doesn’t help in anyway. People don’t always get the help they need especially celebrities because people judge you when you seek professional help. People immediately judge you as mentally ill when you come out and say you are depressed. The same is possibly true for everyone. You are afraid to be labeled but unfortunately, depression has resulted in an epidemic of suicides. There’s an increase in suicides and suicide attempts. The world and social media don’t cut you any slack. People tell you to ‘go and hug transformer’. In other words, ‘kill yourself’
Most times depressed people look at death as an exit. They can’t bear to live life anymore. You feel you’ll finally be free and rid of all the sadness and that can be quite appealing.
But I’m here to let you know that you don’t want to kill yourself. Your life is too precious. Everyone has a God given will to live. Listen to it. The truth is your life doesn’t belong to you so it’s not yours to take. Think about the pain you’ll cause the people you leave behind. Cry out to the God who gave you life and let him show you the way
You have worth! You’re not an accident. Your life has meaning.
There is hope. When there is life, there is hope. You have a bright future ahead of you even if you can’t see it now.
Help is available. Depression grows in isolation. Speak up, reach out for support. You can tell those closest to you or a professional counselor. Whatever you do, don’t kill your self!
