In an interview with Okey Bakassi on Channels TV’s The Other News, Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda told Nigerian women to stop provoking their men into punches and slaps.

The question was based around the recent controversial statements made by Dr Lola Akande, Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

While noting that she’s never been a victim, the gorgeous mother of one said:

“It’s a bit uncomfortable for someone to come out and say I was cornered to sleep with a producer because of a role,”
“They keep quiet about it because of their careers. Apart from that, the society stigmatises these women. So you just swallow your pride. When you are outside the shores of Africa, women are heroes for coming out to speak about sexual abuse, but not here.” she added.
Speaking further, Chinda also urged women to quit “provoking” their husband.
“As much as I detest all forms of violence against women and men, women should quit provoking their man by beating punches and slaps,” she said.
“I’m a domestic violence [enthusiast]. I always research when I hear fresh stories about domestic violence. Half the time, it is the women.
“God just gave us this running Okra mouth. Women, don’t fight with people who are stronger than you.”

How Samklef’s 6-Year-Old Marriage Almost Crashed

Ace music producer Samklef, has revealed that he almost lost his 6-year old marriage sometime this year. The artiste who got married in 2011, has a son with wife, Yvonne.

In times where divorce seems to be the order of the day in the world of celebrities, Music producer and singer, Samclef has refused to fall as its latest victim.

Samklef took to his Twitter handle to acknowledge God’s intervention in what would have been one of the latest casualties of celebrity marriages.

He took to social media to make the revelation wring:

A brilliant Nigerian, Folafoluwa Oginni breaks Heterfordshire University record as she graduates with a perfect 5.0 GP.

In 2013, Folafoluwa Oginni, then 17, emerged the overall best pupil in the May/June 2012 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) when she scored the highest grade (Grade 1) in all her eight subjects, including English and Mathematics.

Fast forward to 2017, Folafoluwa kept the flag flying by becoming the best graduating student from the University of Heterfordshire after she finished her Law degree without getting even a B till her final year.

This Is Why Monalisa Chinda Thinks Actresses Keep Quiet About Sexual Harassment

Nollywood star Monalisa Chinda has said actresses are often quiet about incidents of sexual harassment over the fear of stigmatisation and the resultant effect on their careers.

Chinda said this while appearing as a guest on The Other News, a satirical show hosted by comic-actor Okey Bakassi on Channels Television.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had recently expressed its determination to put an end to all forms of sexual harassment in Nollywood.

When asked to weigh in on the subject, Chinda said many actresses are not comfortable enough to open up about such incidents, while adding that she’s never been a victim.

She said:

“It’s a bit uncomfortable for someone to come out and say I was cornered to sleep with a producer because of a role,” 

“They keep quiet about it because of their careers. Apart from that, the society stigmatises these women. So you just swallow your pride.

Speaking in an interview with HipTV, Adekunle Gold’s mum revealed the tussle within the family when her son decided to go into music. She said she was surprised when Adekunle Gold wanted to quit his job for music adding that he is the only son and the first child.

Runtown Subtly Shades Mr. Eazi For Saying Nigerian Artistes Copy His Music Style

It seems a beef is loading between Runtown and Mr Eazi, and this comes after the latter accused colleagues of ripping off his style.

Recall that in January, the Skintight singer took to Twitter to pay homage to Ghana and asserted that the new sounds coming out of Nigeria are deeply influenced by works churned out from Ghana.

Also in a recent interview, Mr Eazi fired direct shots at his Nigerian colleagues saying they are all ripping off what he started; mixing Ghanaian sounds/words with Nigerian ones to make hit songs. Though he didn’t name names, we all know that Runtown is chief among them.

Days after BBNaija’s Uriel turned down veteran rapper Ruggedman’s invite to his house, Ruggedy baba has finally spoke about the situation saying Uriel wasn’t and cannot be rude to him.

The newest song I have is titled, Is Police Your Friend, and I used it to talk about police harassment issues which have become too rampant. The song features the voice of the police PRO and she said that it is wrong for a policeman to check a citizen’s phone without a warrant. She also made clarification on other issues such as tinted windows’ permit, and others. I’ve also been going on a radio tour talking about these same issues. It’s all about entertaining and enlightening the people at the same time. I don’t have to be an ambassador of the police to take any step that would educate the people. As an artiste who has a voice, you should go beyond just entertaining to making an impact on social issues. The good thing is that the campaign that I have been championing has been yielding fruits.”

Explaining why it is taking him so long to get married, he said,

“I’ve not been that lucky when it comes to relationships. There was someone I was supposed to get married to, but her mum preferred somebody else who was richer than I was. I was just coming up in the industry then. However, she regretted it later. I want a woman who would understand and support my job.  “Definitely, and that is why I decided to write about it on my page. Every human being goes through different things in life at different points in time and that is one of the main reasons privacy needs to be respected at all times. But I cannot get embarrassed in cyber world.”
