This Is The Reason Behind Kate Henshaw’s Happiness And Youthfulness

This Is The Reason Behind Kate Henshaw’s Happiness And Youthfulness

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw who is closer to 50 than 40 but looks 20 has revealed the secret behind her youthful look in an interview with Saturday Beats.

Known for her great love for dancing, Kate, as she is fondly called, said she has always loved music.
“Music is the food of love and it is for the soul. If they are playing good music anywhere and you refuse to dance, then you are evil. I mean when everyone around you is on their feet, sweating it out on the dance floor and you remain on your seat, are you the devil? Music is from the heart and since I choose to be happy, anywhere they play good music, I start to dance. That is the secret of my happiness and that is what makes me look young. I am happy all the time.”

Also known to be a fitness enthusiast, Kate revealed that ever since she discovered the benefits of exercising about seven years ago, she has not visited a hospital in five years.
“I began to really do exercises about seven years ago and the benefits are just numerous. I can see the changes in my body and my health is great. I have not been to the hospital in five years. Before I began to exercise, I used to have malaria, fever or typhoid almost every month but I have not been to the hospital for anything and I know it is because of the exercise and the fact that I decided to choose a healthy lifestyle. The more you exercise your body, the stronger you get. I keep pushing my limits at the gym because that is what I am supposed to do. Athletes and people who cherish their health never stop training, they keep going,” said the actress.

How Omoni Oboli Survived Law Suit Slammed Against Her

How Omoni Oboli Survived Law Suit Slammed Against Her

Omoni Oboli has had a not too smooth year following the law suit slammed against her and father’s death.

Describing that period of her life as one of the toughest moments in her career, the First Lady, as she is fondly called, in a chat with Saturday Beats, opened up on how she survived it all.
She revealed that during that period, she was plagued with panic attacks but for the strong support she got from her family and friends, she could have gone nuts.
“‘Okafor’s Law’ is my best movie so far and it is doing very well in the market and cinemas. But I would not lie, the law suit that was slammed against me over the movie was a very terrible experience. It was one of the toughest points in my career coupled with the fact that my father died a few weeks after the whole law suit saga ended. I felt that I was getting out of one problem to the other and I just totally fell apart. I never doubted the success of the movie but I just wanted the court to ensure that it was played across the cinemas for the viewing pleasure of my fans.
“However, during that period, I realised that when something bad happens, it may cause us to fall but you have to pick yourself up because when there is life, there is hope. As long as you are still breathing, things would always get better. I am a very positive person and I have always believed that no matter how bad things get, they would be better in time. The only person that can keep you down is yourself. I tell myself that even if I have a scandal (God forbid), I would step on it and move on, I would take off from there.
“During that period, my family really stood by me. When I saw my husband and kids, I felt like the world was better. I knew that as far as we were together, everything would be fine. My girls were also unbelievable. During that time, my husband was not around but a lot of women surrounded me. There were about four ladies sleeping with me every day because it was that bad.  I never knew what panic attack meant till I encountered that experience,” she said.
Oboli further said that to avoid the stress, she tried to settle out of court but the opposition was adamant about heading to court.
“I tried to settle out of court not because I was guilty, but I just did not want the stress. At a point, I started to ask what everything was all about. Was it only about the movie? I began to ask myself if it was worth what I was going through because in the next five years, ‘Okafor’s Law’ would be one of the least movies that I would do. I don’t hate the person that took me to court because I am not wired that way. When I see them in court, I say hello but I don’t know if we can ever be friends again. Right now, I am fine and I am in a good place,” she said

This Is How Yemi Blaq Thinks Women Can Deal With Domestic Violence

This Is How Yemi Blaq Thinks Women Can Deal With Domestic Violence

Nollywood actor, Yemi Blaq, has waded into the issue of domestic violence that has destroyed the homes and happiness of many Nigerian thespians.

Giving advice to actresses who find themselves in such unpleasant situation, Blaq said the only solution is for the victim is to take a walk. Hear him: “Domestic violence can be identified early. Once you see that a man possesses that trait, just take a walk. Don’t bear it or try to change him, it might get worse.
“Well, people would ask ‘what if the actresses are the ones instigating the violence?’ Yes, we all know women are prone to such things that could provoke a man to raise his hands on them. Most times, it’s not easy to swallow but that’s not an excuse at all. A man should always be a man and know where to draw the line. Be responsible and take a walk from that situation too.”
When Blaq was reminded of the widely-held impression that Nigerian actresses are prone to infidelity, the soft-spoken movie star disagreed with such assumption. “I don’t know a group of people called celebrities. But I know that as an individual, one can be prone to all sorts of things. I think being in front of the camera, be it as a singer or actor exposes you to all sorts of things. You know what I mean? But it all depends on what you want for your life and how you want it to go.
“As an actor, I have found myself in some compromising situations, but it’s not necessarily about me being an actor. Every other person or persons can as well find him or herself in such a dilemma too, the main issue is how you deal with it afterwards; how you handle the situation and walk away.
“For me, I always act differently in all of such situations, because they are not alike. I majorly put on my trainers and walk away as fast as I can.”
On how he deals with some excessively stubborn fans that wouldn’t let him be at public places, the actor maintained that he is always equal to the task.
“At some point, stubbornness is a good trait in human beings and I am also a stubborn person, so I know how to handle those kind of female fans when they come my way,” he stated.

Yul Edochie Is Certain That Politics Won’t End His Acting Career

Yul Edochie Is Certain That Politics Won’t End His Acting Career

For some weeks now, Yul Edochie has been relentlessly making efforts to win the hearts of his people, asking them to give the youths a chance to make a change.

“Politicians have failed us‎ so, I’m in the race to touch the lives of Anambra people positively. Always remember that if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. The problems of Anambra people have reached the last bus stop. I joined the race to harness the creative potentials of the youths and the resource-endowment of Anambra and move the state to the next level of development,” he told Inside Nollywood.
On what becomes of his acting career once he moves into mainstream politics, Edochie reassured:
“It will not stop my acting career at all. I intend to combine both roles effectively. However, I’m willing to jettison actingin order to face governance for four years should it be required of me.
“An actor also has a right to contest for public office like every other citizen of Nigeria. So, I think the fact that I’m an actor is a major plus, not a setback.”

This Is Why Ufuoma Mcdermott Does Not Miss Being A Model

This Is Why Ufuoma Mcdermott Does Not Miss Being A Model

Ufuoma Mcdermott came into the entertainment industry as a model back when she contested for Miss Nigeria beauty pageant and emerged as the first runner up over a decade ago, she did not become a household name till she ventured into acting.

While speaking to Saturday Beats, the actress admitted that although she enjoyed parading the runways, she does not miss being a model.
“I think the days of being a beauty pageant contestant were a phase in my life that I enjoyed and maximised before I moved on to another aspect of my life. But I cannot say that I miss it however; I cannot say that there was a transitory process from being a model to becoming an actress. But I always knew that life had phases and that part of my life was over. I knew that it was time to face my life as an actress and to maximise my potential, I went to film school,” she said.
While many people would argue that women do not support each other, the actress holds a contrary opinion. To drive home her point, the actress spoke about her relationship with her fellow colleagues, Uche Jombo, Chioma Akpotha and Omoni Oboli and gave reasons why they are referred to as the fantastic four.
“We have known each other for a long time and we are the ‘Fantastic Four’ as we are called on social media. I think it came to be after ‘Wives on Strike.’ The name came with our cinema tour because we were together everywhere. We stayed in the same hotels and it was really crazy because we had a lot of fun. What I have come to realise with these three girls is the way we are able to pull strengths from one another. The way we encourage one another is phenomenal. They are so great that if I tell them that I am thinking of planting a tree before December, they would literally not let me rest until I plant that tree. They would also help out with the task at hand. It just goes to show that women support each other. I don’t know why people say women don’t support each other. We might have a few people who fall out with each other, but the truth is that if you have a quarrel with your sibling, it does not stop them from being your sibling,” she said.
“We do have misunderstandings but after a while, we would get back together, talk to each other and move on because we cannot allow little things to weigh us down. Petty things cannot derail us because we have our eyes on the prize and we are focused,” she said.

Kylie Jenner Is Reportedly Expecting First Child

Kylie Jenner Is Reportedly Expecting First Child

Kylie Jenner, 20, is reportedly expecting her first child for rapper Travis Scott.
According to TMZ:
Kylie Jenner is pregnant and Travis Scott is about to become a dad.
We’re told 20-year-old Kylie began telling friends earlier this month at the Day N Night Fest in Anaheim, CA.
Sources also say 25-year-old Travis Scott, Kylie’s boyfriend, has also been telling his friends. We’re even told — although we cannot verify — that he’s told friends they’re having a girl.
One source says Travis was at a recent event telling people about the pregnancy and how his life was going to change. If they are punking their friends with repeated pregnancy proclamations, it’s super weird … especially in light of the photo (above) which Kylie herself just posted on Snapchat.
It’s also interesting … Kylie’s been posting old pics of herself on Instagram and current shots from the chest up

“The Unity of Nigeria is not negotiable” – David Mark

Former Senate President, Senator David Mark insists that Nigeria is indivisible no matter what, stressing that “the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable”.

According to Daily Times, he said this while leading members of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) 3rd Regular Course Alumni Association on a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Acting governor, Alhaji Aminu Shagali, in Kaduna today to mark the Golden Jubilee ( 50 years) of their entry into the NDA. In his words:
Those who are agitating for otherwise are missing the point. Nigeria has crossed many crucibles . We cannot reverse ourselves. The only option is to move on in a manner that is progressive, peaceful and united. We may have our disagreements. But a break up is not an option. We can resolve our differences through meaningful dialogue and genuine conversation. There is no use heating up the polity.

Did Mugabe just call Trump a “Goliath”?

Did Mugabe just call Trump a “Goliath”?

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe at the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly addressed other world leaders in a pointed speech.
The speech, which covered the current development goals, and the ways by which they might be met, aroused ovations at different points.
He talked on global warming, and the mass movement of people fleeing wars and armed conflicts.
A particularly gripping point was when he began to address a certain person threatening world peace.
A “giant gold Goliath” he called this person.
Finally, calling his name, “Mr. Trump,” he said ” please blow your trumpet.”

LASG declares two-night restriction of Vehicular movement on Ikorodu road

Lagos State Government through the Permanent Secretary, Works and Infrastructure, Olujimi Hotonu announced a two-night restriction of vehicular movement on Ikorodu road to enable works on the dilapidated steel footbridge at Fadeyi Bus Stop.
The restrictions will be active on September 23 between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m and September 24 between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.
He noted that the decision to replace the bridge became imperative to protect the lives of pedestrians on the highway.
“There will be partial restriction of movement on Ikorodu road. The purpose is to rehabilitate the steel foot bridge at Fadeyi Bus Stop with a new footbridge.
“The entire footbridge would be overhauled, while the disused pedestrian bridge would be pulled down to give way for a new one worthy of the status of the state.
“The main carriage lanes will be shut for two consecutive nights while the service lanes will be open to traffic. All traffic both inward Lagos and outward Ojota will be diverted to the service lanes,” he said.
The official urged all motorists and road users plying the corridor to cooperate and support the state government and observe all the precaution signs on the road while the reconstruction is on-going.
The permanent secretary added that the notice of partial restriction of the road became expedient to enlighten motorists and other road users to utilise alternative routes to avoid delay as well as obey traffic officers deployed on the road to ease movement.”
