‘The Wedding Party 2’ Is Back And We Can’t Keep Calm

The ELFIKE Film Collective, a partnership between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios, is thrilled to announce the release of a teaser and poster for The Wedding Party 2 – Destination Dubai. With the cast of the original film returning for another wedding, the sequel to the Nollywood’s biggest-ever movie promises to be even more colourful and twice as funny, with jaw-dropping scenes from one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations.

Mo Abudu, CEO, EbonyLife Films, is excited about the new teaser and poster. “Fans now have a taste of the awesome movie that’s coming. It has been a labour of love and we look forward to the release in December,” she said.

The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai will have its Lagos premiere on December 10, with cinema release on December 15 in Nigeria.

D’banj Has This To Say About Psquare’s Fight

Nigerian popstar, Dbanj thinks the Psquare crisis would have been settled quietly, were it not for the media who he says are making it worse by always writing negative stories.

In a recent chat with NET, Dbanj says the brothers who currently cannot stand each other, should be left alone to settle their issues.

‘The media should sit back and let them settle their issues amicably. They’ re making it worse by writing all sorts of stories about them. Brothers will always fight and get back as brothers, but the media should not write negative stories in a bid to make money off the headlines.’

He goes on to make an example of his exit from Mohits in 2012, a move that was widely reported at the time. Dbanj refers to that coverage as ‘victimization’.

‘Remember I almost became a victim of the media back then when I left Mohits, but I thank my stars that I pulled through and I am still here,’ he says.

Olusegun Obasanjo Lands First Nollywood Movie Role

Nollywood star Samuel Ajibola has unveiled to the world a behind-the-scenes photo from the widely anticipated episode of ‘Dele Issues’.

This episode features the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo and is scheduled for release on the 14th of October 2017.

Samuel Ajibola who is popularly known as Spiff in the sitcom ‘The Johnsons’ made the announcement on social networking site Instagram, he wrote;

“I’ve had this picture for Months, but I’ve been looking at this Picture for the past 3 days, knowing I was going to post it up this Morning but not knowing what to write under it as a Caption. Then I woke up this Morning and the first song that came to me was “you raised me up so I can stand on mountains, you raised me up to walk on stormy seas, I am strong when I’m on your shoulders, you raise me up to more than I can be” And then I got it! This is it! What I’ve been looking for? My caption would revolve around the Grace of God. To start with, Who am I? That on my very own first project as a Producer (I’m talking about the Dele Issues nonsense I’ve been disturbing you guys with every time on social media..lol) , that I would have the privilege of having a Former president of my Country (Chief Olusegun Obasanjo) feature in my own skit because of an idea I just conceived in my mind once? I meant, as at the time I thought of this idea I thought I was just being crazy, but then again I remembered a quote I’ve seen some time ago that says ” your dreams are not Big if they don’t scare you”.All I did thereafter was to chase this dream and I left everything to God’s hands. If there is any advice I can give you young guys out there, it is this. ”Please don’t be ever scared to chase your dreams that came from any crazy idea you’ve ever thought of in your head. Write it down and chase that dream with every single thing you’ve got. I mean, you’d never know…Just like me.” 

This special episode would mark as the high point of the entire web series as the former president Olusegun Obasanjo makes his acting debut and show the world a side they’ve never seen or heard of him.

The web series, Dele Issues (Daily Issues), revolves around the main character; Dele, who always takes on different roles. The skits are popular for having elements of comedy and satire – ultimately making the series a must-watch.

So today this happened. On the surface it might look like an ordinary celebrity /child-of-starstruck-parent photo opp but there is a deeper story here.

About 8 years ago, while about 6 months pregnant with this little girl here, I fell onto terribly hard times. I have chronicled most of it on my social media platforms but to summarise it, I was abandoned by my child’s father, lost my house, was kicked out unceremoniously from my job at MTV for no reason, and to crown it all, diagnosed HIV positive.

Shortly after that, my then best friend, with whom I was staying, decided she had had enough so I was given an eviction notice.

Long story short, I began to reach out to my friends and acquaintances to try to pick up the pieces, get a place to stay, deliver safely and move on. Suffice it to say that practically none of my celebrity ‘friends’ ever came through. These were people who would call me non-stop when I was in MTV but suddenly, I was invisible.

The only people that did were this man, @bankywellington, and @funlolafar. (Funlola I don’t consider a friend but a sister, or worst case my cousin anyway.😊) What was funny is that both of them had no knowledge of the situation I was in. I think this will be the first time Banky will be hearing of it. I just told him I was trying to raise money for a place, I think.

In those days @bankywellington had not even come close to being as successful as he is now. Yet the next morning, before 7am, he had driven from his place in Lekki, to my house in Magodo with cash for me. And as usual, a hug.

Now one reason people are scared to ask for help especially money from friends is that the dynamics of the relationship changes after someone has helped you out. People who give suddenly feel somewhat superior to the receiver or even feel that the receiver is a tiresome distraction. Not all the time but a lot of the time. However, with Banky there was never that awkwardness. I met him several more times as I managed to get back on my feet over the years and he never behaved like anything like that transpired between us. He was always warm, always hugging, always kind.

Today at ICM which I took my daughter to entirely by coincidence, I ran into him doing his ambassador duties at the Samsung stand. This would be the first time he would see my daughter ever. I had no intentions of her taking pics with him but he just grabbed her and asked ‘where’s your camera’? Then he began to tell her how he and I go way back. It was all I could do not to cry a little. As we left, my daughter asked “Is he a famous person”? I said “Yes. But more importantly, he is a good person.”
